Thrust Ball Bearing

Thrust ball bearings are designed specifically to carry axial loads and consist of a shaft washer, a housing washer, and a ball-and-cage assembly. During operation, the balls roll between the two washers, enabling low-friction rotation. However, they cannot handle radial loads and are sensitive to installation misalignment. Based on load direction, they are classified into single-direction (supporting axial force in one direction) and double-direction (supporting axial force in both directions). They are widely used in applications such as automotive clutches, machine tool spindles, and heavy-duty turntables that require precise thrust support.
